Ecojot – Journal

Ecojot - JournalFor several years I have enjoyed ecojot's whimsical-styled journals. My most recent purchased journal has a bird on it. I also have a couple others with a vintage montage. While electronic notes are great, there is a certain inspiration that comes from writing notes on paper the old-fashioned way. My ecojot journal is used to record thoughts, prayers, lecture notes, and my perpetual to-do list.

About: Based out of Scarborough, Ontario, ecojot has expanded into over a thousand retail locations. They proudly design and print their products in Canada on 100% recycled paper.

Favourite Memory:  I own a few of their journals, and I enjoy looking back at my notes and scribbles. Some of which are so nonsensical now, and make me laugh. I recently read some notes my husband and I jotted back and forth on my ecojot journal during a lecture we attended. It started with some rather tense scribble dialogue, and then ended up in scribble smiles.  Ah, these journals are good for so much!

I actually bought a package of these journals 2 years ago and filled them with family recipies ~ love the nature inspired prints and the fact that they are 100% recycled paper!

I love these interesting and eco-minded journals. Keeping a "paper list" gives me a sense of accomplishment, especially when I can actually cross something off the list as DONE!

Prairie Naturals Fermented Barley Grass

I'm a true believer in cultured and fermented foods, because they increase the bio-availability of nutrients. So last year when I discovered that Prairie Naturals had a fermented barley grass, I took to greener pastures! And of course the fact that they are made in Canada, sealed the deal.

You see, the natural fermentation process enhances and transforms the naturally occurring nutrients in barley grass to a more readily assimilated form. But that's not where it ends, greens are alkaline-balancing. This is especially important given that many of the foods we eat are acidic. And an acidic internal environment is the precursor to many diseases. This is why alkaline foods are so critical for overall health. Side note: these greens are also not a grain, and therefore do contain gluten.

About:: Although barley grass greens have been used as a food supplement since the 1930's, Prairie Naturals is the first in Canada to enhance their nutrient value and bioavailability through natural fermentation. This is what makes this company so unique

Prairie Naturals is a privately owned, family business headquartered near Vancouver, BC, Canada. Their core business is the research, development, marketing and distribution of more than 100 premium quality nutritional supplements, natural hair and natural body care products. The Prairie Naturals brand is sold through hundreds of retail stores from coast to coast, across Canada.

Favourite Memory: My first task in the morning is to drink some greens. I just take it straight up with water. It re-hydrates my body after a long night, and allows me to "break the fast" gently. I like this routine. It's simple.

I've been having a kale and banana smoothie everyday and adding Greens+. Barley is so healthy, and this is organic and Canadian...bonus! Going to swing by Choices this weekend and see if they carry this product. Prairie Naturals also makes a fantastic Pumpkin protein powder...delicious in juice or smoothies.

Playful Peanut: Diaper Ensemble

When I was expecting my baby, I turned to Playful Peanut to set me up up with some diaper supplies for our diaper bag: the wet bag for our cloth diapers, the clutch, and the portable change pad. I appreciate these local mamas' hearts in making quality baby products.  Now after visiting their website again, I'm eyeing the bowtie & suspenders for my little man {smile}.

Change PadAbout: Their story is nothing new. Kari-Ann & Amanada were a couple of 9-5ers who traded in their stilettos for slippers after the births of their beautiful baby girls. While they were content to settle into their new roles as moms, they WEREN'T willing to settle for boring baby gear. They found the quest easier said than done. Fortunately they were no strangers to the sewing machine so they immediately got to work (well, IMMEDIATELY might be the wrong word - they first had to get used to their new tenants :).

Favourite Memory: Taking our new baby to church in his carseat  and Playful Peanut Car Seat Cover with weighted corners.  Winnipeg is the Chicago of the North, and so with all our wind we need weights to hold things down.  I also like that the one I purchased was 100% cotton, so it breathes well.
